I am currently registered to take the PCAT on July 9. I don't really feel like I am prepared for it as much as I need to be. Also I took one of Kaplan's practice tests and did absolutely awful on it. I have yet to take organic or microbiology, so a lot of the chemistry is over my head. Should I go ahead and take the PCAT in July or cancel and take it later?
And I plan on applying to schools as soon as applications open which is why I registered for the July test.

Tbh I would consider writing it in early September if I was in your position.

I don't know what the Kaplan test is like but I remember I started the Princeton test a few days before my actual PCAT and quit half way through cause it was so hard and killing my confidence. The pearson sample tests I highly reccomend you buy all 3 are they are very representative of what you will find on the actual PCAT.

Take your time to learn ochem and micro. Micro at my school was really ****ty and that's where I lost all my bio points on the practice tests. So I found a website and I used it to make a detailed chart - one side was the organ systems, causes, symptoms, etc... and the other side was the disease name. (I think that's how I did it, if I come across it I'll let you know)

Here's the link I used, just clink on the organi systems and stuff on the side. I didn't do all of them but the ost common ones. I studied both the scientific and normal names of the diseases. Ended up getting a 99 percentile in bio on the actual exam.

If you dont mind paying the extra $200 Just take it in July and see how you do then take it again in September.

OMG you and I are in the exact same boat. I haven't taken organic chem, chem 2, bio 2 or micro yet and I got 45% composite percentile on the practice pcat. I'm terrified to take it on the 9th because I'd rather not take it again and do just as bad in september

There r some schools that list the percentile that they like to see but they accept a lot lower than that. I say take the test it doesn't hurt u because when u apply to schools they will always count the higher score. By taking it earlier u will know what to expect. Goodluck!

That's how I feel. I don't mind to take it again but I'd rather not. And I don't want schools to see that I did terrible and just ignore my application. If I take it again I was thinking about the November or October dates so I would be more than a month into ochem and microbiology.

Thanks PharmD.93 for the advise and the link. I'm going to buy the Pearson tests and see how that goes. I'll probably end up taking it, so I'll know what to expect and what I need to work on. I'm just scared that I'll totally bomb it 🙁

If I were you I'd get Dr. Collins, I'm currently studying the parsons but I bought the Collins tests because I kept hearing great things

I just finished the first Pearson practice test and didn't do so great on it, which really brings my confidence down.
Practice scores
Composite 48-68%
Verbal 62-82%
Biology 59-79%
Chem 22-42% 😱
RC 42-62%
Quantitative 50-70%

I did absolutely awful! Makes me want to cancel even more since I only have like 2 weeks and I don't think I can bring my score up that much in that amount of time
