Take the dat without destroyer?

I am new to SND, I was first on last night. I have never heard about the DAT destroyer before I came to this site and I see that some people swear by it. I feel like I’ve been living in a cave, I’m so out of the loop. I have taken Kaplan and have done most of my studying from the book and online tests. I am consistently getting 19-20 in the sciences, which is my main concern. I am scheduled to take the test this Friday.
Would it be in my best interest to push back the date and get the destroyer, and if so when would it be too late to take the DAT for fall 2008 entry.
Any input is very appreciated!🙂

You don't need the Destroyer to take the DAT--it is only a tool to help you, and there are plenty of tools around. Personally, I wouldn't delay one entire year just to get take the DAT for the sake of Destroyer, but that would be your call.

I didn't know about destroyer either until I read what people wrote about it on SDN, whcih was after I took the DAT. I just used Kaplan and did the 3 full length tests from Topscore and I did pretty well. Since I never used destroyer, I can't speak to its usefulness, but if you were already planning on taking the DAT this week, I wouldn't push it back further.

Also, I would just recommend that you visit this site as little as possible until you take the test. Yeah, you could get some helpful hints, but it may do more damage to your confidence than the small benefit you get from it. I know I'm glad that I didn't find out about this site until after I took the DAT. Confidence is priceless. Goodluck, you'll do great!

Haha. I was in the exact same boat. I found out about destroyer like 1 week before my scheduled test day from SDN, and honestly I was having a breakdown because so many people were swearing by it.

I personally didnt use it, but have heard its an excellent resource. In my opinion, you DONT need destroyer to do well...although it would def. help. I actually did pretty decent without destroyers help, so I think you can do it too!

For the PAT sections, is destroyer/top score/achiever worth purchasing? I already have Crack DAT PAT Royal Flush edition/Kaplan/Barron's.

Destroyer does not have PAT nor RC.

Personally, I think you should look into Achiever because the PAT on there is excellent. Very challenging and prepared me well for the PAT.
