Take the USMLE during a deferred semester?

sounds like half of my friends from the caribbean schools. that's how they roll.

Thanks for the help guys. I'm just wondering if the USMLE organizers let students take the exam when they are not in school. I mean, if a student has some type of issue where they are forced to take temporary leave (e.g., pregnancy, medical, financial, etc)., it would seem reasonable enough to me that they ought to be able to take the exam. However, I think I read somewhere that you you had to be listed as a current student to take the exam, but I can't find the webpage anymore.

Can you even be listed as a current student if you are taking a temporary leave? There must be something in the rules that allows a student to take the exam during time off from school. How?

I believe as long as your are eligible by your school institution to take the test.

I had to have surgery during the second semester of my second year. when i asked if i could still study for the boards and take it (even though I had yet to finish the second semester classes) I was told I would not be eligible until I had taken and passed all of the classes.
