Hello,
If I take time off after taking my undergrad, is there a certain amount of time which I have to apply to medical school, can I apply say 10 years later to med school? Also, is it alright to take a break inbetween undergrad studies ie. (full course loads) take 3 years of the undergrad, take a year off, finish the fourth year.

Regards

There aren't really any hard and fast rules, and sure, you can start and stop undergrad as you please. But expect to be asked about it and have to explain it in interviews, etc. If you are doing it just to go lie on a beach for a few years, it probably could have a negative impact when you ultimately apply.

Lots of nontrads are applying to med school (or even starting undergrad) decades after completing college -- there is no time limit to apply to med school. However some schools want prereq coursework to be recent, so you may need to take/retake certain things closer to application time for certain schools.

Great, thanks for the reply!

Alright they want recent pre-reqs, the undergrad degree from past years is still good?

Thanks law2doc, that answers my question, "recent" should be "past" 😳
