Taking a Class Pass/ fail

Schools have pre-reqs for a reason. One of them being they compare the performance of an applicant over various classes to another applicant. From what I've gathered from talking to different school reps is anything you take to go above and beyond that is brownie points.

I actually got higher on my pchem grades than most of my other science classes...so for ME, it bumped my overall gpa a bit, as well as my "science gpa" on pharmCAS.
I think for my school, since most of the students were seniors finishing up their degrees(they didn't care so much about their grades, just wanted to pass and get it over with), along with the difficulty of the concepts(chemistry+physics+calculus = 😕), it was "easier" to stay ahead of the curve since the averages tended to be low.
Just some things to think about; not doing a pass/fail may help you out.

Since it is not a requirement, more than likely they will not care. As long as the pre-reqs can be validated then you should be good.
So will it still count towards your bachelors or will you have to retake it?
THAT is a good question. At Purdue, I was required to get a C or better in all Chemistry classes. Taking a class Pass/Fail didn't meet that requirement and I had to endure 2 semesters of Physical Chemistry. *GROAN*
