I currently am in my second year of college hoping to pursue my dream of becoming a doctor. I have diabetes and struggle with keeping my blood sugars under control. I am trying to decide whether it will be frowned upon when applying to medical schools if I drop a class and use the time from studying to devote attention to managing my diabetes. Do schools look unfavorably if you take an extra semester to finish college? Have any other students with health issues (diabetes) had similar situations?

A single drop or withdrawal won't be problematic, especially under the circumstances. Most admission committees probably won't even notice since it won't affect your GPA (assuming that you are given a W and not a WF).
