Hello... so I have a non science degree from a university..took a couple years off and then went back to school and decided i wanted to take pre req courses for dentistry...My questionis that I am taking all my science courses at CC and i refuse to go back to Uni because I feel u learn more at CC classes because they are lesser students...I am shadowing 2 dentists and so far am getting a 4.0 in all my science courses...at my CC they call the science program associates of science..my question to u is by taking all of my science courses at CC will that affect my chances in getting into dental school...I will not be applying to any ivy league schools...

The schools would like you to get most of your pre-reqs at a state or university. I would say the CC level is a lot easier and the dental schools might look down upon that but who knows. It is best to seek an admissions advisor's advice to make sure. I know they do not care if some classes are taken at CC but not all of it.

Some don't care, some will not accept any, and some say to take a minimum number of pre-reqs at CC. Visit the school's website to find out.

I think it would look bad since you went to a 4 year and then switched to 2 year for sciences. Also to all the peeps out there saying its cake walk that's exactly what all the MIT students say about your school 🙂

Since you already have a degree, and you're a "non-traditional" student because of that, you won't have quite as much of the negative connotation associated with taking science classes at CC's. That said, don't assume they're going to be all easy A classes, mine were mostly harder than their university counterparts - but I did feel it was a much better learning environment. As long as you do well on those sections of the DAT (after doing well in those classes), you should do fine as far as admission committees are concerned. And yes, just know that since you are taking pre-reqs at a CC, there are a small handful of schools that you won't be able to apply to, I think Tufts and BU are on that list.

Good luck!

Hello thanks for answering I am just curious did u take any of your pre reqs at CC?

+1

When I took science courses at CC I got 4.0s across the board. Now that I'm taking courses at a 4 year as a post bac I'm averaging 3.2s. Schools view CC courses as easier. This may or may not be true but when the class is curved you have a higher chance of being the smartest (highest scoring) student in the class at CC. So, if your school accepts CC courses you really need to be getting a 4.0 in EVERY class.
