Taking Classes at a Community College

Do schools look at if you took a certain number of hours at a community college compared to at a 4 year university? Do they take that into account when looking at your transcript. And does it make it a difference if you take your pre-req classes at a community college instead of at 4 year university. The main reason that I do is the cost is almost in the thousands and it is sometimes hard to afford.

Any feedback on this would be appreciated.

I took almost all of my pre-reqs at a community college (I took calculus and general psych at my 4-year university, otherwise, all CC). I was interviewed at both schools I applied to that did interviews and was waitlisted at the other two schools that didn't, and I am starting school in the fall. I think the only reason I was waitlisted was I had a fairly low GPA from my 4-year university and didn't have a whole lot of extra-curriculars because I'd been working.

I recently contacted about 10 or so programs, inquiring about this issue. The general response was that community college courses are fine, and not looked down upon at all.

If you want to be extra sure, just email a few of the programs you are interested in and see what they have to say. Chances are, they won't mind you saving a ton of money....
