Taking course after Graduation for Purpose of Learning?

Hey guys,

I am graduating this May and taking a gap year. I am really interested in practicing my spanish and also learning ALS so I am thinking about taking a Spanish 3 course and ALS 1 at a community college.
Would this look bad since I am taking it at a CC or do they not care? I know I have to report it on my med school application. The sole purpose I want to take these two courses is because I want to learn and understand more languages and I can't take them through my university since I am graduating now.

Won’t look bad as long as you do well. If you’re doing this to bring up a low cGPA from UG though, you should look into taking science courses at a 4year university

My GPA is already solid, I just want to take the courses because I really want to know two foreign languages. I figure the best way to learn it is through college courses and it would only cost a couple hundred bucks at my Community college

Schools can probably figure out that it’s just for fun, it’ll be fine.

If that’s the cheapest way - debatable.. how much time does it take someone to do the first Rosetta Stone Spanish as compared to the CC course cost? Have you tried other CD’s or looked on YouTube for cheap or free stuff first? Considered the price of the DuoLingo app?

I agree. It would be a better investment to buy Rosetta Stone and just practice speaking Spanish to people on the street (or friends)

Also, I think you meant to write ASL, OP. ALS means something else entirely, especially on this site

Yes ASL lol I was just reading an article about ALS and got the letters mixed up haha and thanks appreciate the advice
