Hi,
Next year this time I will be taking the DAT. Right now I only have a MCAT Kaplan book from 2005.

My plan is each month, Go over a Section. EI: Sep: Bio , Oct: General Chem , Nov: Organic etc..

Then starting over in January, is this way effective?

Also what are the best reviews and study tools to get? This is my first time back on this forum in some time and I've read about "DAT DESTROYER" is that the best resource to use? What are others to use as a secondary measure?

Thanks!

This is what I did.

Used Kaplan as a foundation, when you are finished start doing all the problems from destroyer. During this time, when you feel like some topics are not sufficiently explained, refer to wikipedia or better yet your textbooks. It took me about 2-3 weeks to go over Kaplan in detail, but I did not use destroyer so I wouldn't know how long it takes. I am guessing probably somewhere between 2-3 weeks as well.

After that, it will be a good time to start doing the Kaplan subject tests and workshops online if you have access to them. Like destroyer, there are quite a lot of questions so this will probably take you another 2-3 weeks or so.

Keep in mind that when you are doing problems, make sure you go back and review/understand the ones you got wrong.

Now you can move onto Achiever/Topscore. There are total of 6 full lengths, and you may take them as full lengths or break it down as you like. My suggestion is to take at least 2-3 full lengths so you know what its gonna be like on the actual test day. At the same time, if you have access to online Kaplan midterms dont hesitate to do them. All 9 full lengths can probably be done in 2 weeks.

If you need additional practice on PAT you can use Crack the PAT.

Lastly, redo all the problems that you got wrong again, then you should be good to go. I am assuming that you are studing full time (6-8 hr per day) and all this can be done in little over 2 months.

Hope it helps.

Thanks for the info!

Well I won't be able to commit 6-8hrs per day for the next year, I'm still in undergrad and have a tough semester this semester. I'm going to do most of my DAT studying on the weekends and maybe an hour or two a night.

So first, I'll go through the Kaplan book I have, then I'll get the Destroyer. I have access to the Kaplan online so that's also going to be good to use.

My biggest thing is staying motivated, and on top of it but I think the fear of doing bad will keep me going. I may try to push it up and take it around april ish, that way IF* I have to retake it I can still retake it in august and get my apps out early.

Keep in mind that Kaplan stuff expires after awhile, so make sure you dl them while you can and so you can just go over them later.
