So I am taking human anatomy over the summer (undergrad), it will be for the next 5 weeks (including this week). Lab is from 9:15 to 11:45 am Monday-Thursday (except Wednesdays, Wednesday is open lab), lecture is from 12:15-2:15 Monday-Thursday.

I have a lecture test every Monday, and a lab practical every Thursday. I have never taken anatomy before. Right now, I have been studying 3-4 hours every afternoon, but I think I might need to up that to 6. And then study 6 hours Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

How should I study for this class? How much time should I be putting in outside of class each day? Btw, I am a senior, graduating in December with BS in Biology and chem minor

Anatomy is just gross memorization, so yeah like you should just memorize everything...

I took Anatomy a couple summers ago in 5 weeks, and I had to study about 50-60 hours a week to feel confident enough that I would get a nice, solid, A. 42 hours a week outside of class is probably enough for you, but you may end up needing closer to 50 get that confidence up going into a practical.

How you study is quite simple: hammer the material into your head through repetition, repetition, repetition. Try to vary your methods of repetition; see the structures, hear the structures, say the structures, write the structures, etc.

I'm taking undergrad anatomy right now
It's literally just memorizing tons of barely interconnecting information
Usually the structures have a reason why they're named that way. It makes it easier especially if theres a crazy historical story/reason behind it
Mneumonics help a lot. Oh oh oh to touch and feel virgin girl's vagina and hymen.
I assume its a models lab and not a cadaver one? Either way, make use of the time and actually use them. It definitely is a lot more helpful than 2D pictures.

Protip: youtube videos are very useful 👍

Good luck

It's pretty much your only option. :meanie:

Memorize and repetition.

I'm honestly not too worried about the lab portion, although it's been tough studying 3-4 hours every afternoon after being in class from 9:15 to 2:15 (with only a 30 minute break for lunch)

That's Anatomy in 5 weeks for you. You just gotta keep telling yourself it's only 5 weeks. 👍

Well we had our first lecture exam yesterday, and I scored an 88/100. I thought i only missed 5 out of 50 but apparently I missed 6. Now in lecture, we're learning about the articulations/joints and skeletal muscle.

Thursday is the first lab practical on the entire axial and appendicular skeletons. I feel prepared but we have now started dissecting a cat, and we will spend an hour thursday morning continuing the cat dissection before we take our practical 😱
