My guess is that it would depend on how well you prepared yourself for the exam.

You need to find out the format of the makeup. The kids at my school that I have talked to have had makeups in the form of essays in the sciences, versus multiple choice. Find this out, and then study so that you can perform one of them.

I would just take the exam on the scheduled date unless you are certain that the exam is going to be identical in both instances. If so, you had better not procrastinate. I made up a final exam 4 days after the scheduled date, and it killed me. This is because I told myself that I had extra time to study so I could take it easy. If you don't fall into this trap, making it up can be used to your advantage.
