Hi everyone, I just have a question,

A friend of mine (actually 3 ppl I know did this for an A) took ochem I & II at an easier, unranked private university in the summer instead of at our UG and he got an A in both. I took it at our UG and got a B and B+ and tanked my cGPA below 3.6.... I know for sure Ochem there is def not hard as at our UG college.

I was just wondering if adcoms will notice this and question why he took ochem at a different college in the summer versus taking ochem at our undergrad? I know there's nothing I can do about it but the question is nagging me... wondering had I done the same, would the pros outweigh any cons. The costs at both colleges are roughly the same for summer.

Oh and another thing is that the other college is not far from our Undergrad (same city) so for example like UCLA and he took it at CSULA (btw those are not the colleges but just throwing example out there).

He's kinda arrogant prick and he goes around laughing at how easy ochem is and posted Fb statuses over summer about his ochem grade and how he got A's on both. And yes I will admit i am jealous he got A's in them when I did not. But he's not smarter than me I know for sure.

Thanks!

School of lower prestige than his undergrad school will count against him. If same prestige then it won't matter.

If you can get an A then why not.
Be sure to ready an explanation as to why you did that.

It all comes out in the MCAT. Seriously, do not worry about his performance in a pre-req. Just focus on yourself and making your application as strong as possible.

This is the key point. Make sure you have a legitimate explanation for what you did. Something funny looking like that will almost certainly be asked about.

I would imagine they'll ask him about it assuming he gets as far as the interview cycle. I believe they notice that stuff and would likely know it is easier. Probably not the first time they have seen it. It will come back to get him on the MCAT if it really was a lot/too easy. Don't worry about him. You did the admirable thing by doing at your harder university than being a cop-out wimp like your friends. I was never asked about any of my grades (a few Bs being the lowest) but just have an answer. Should have studied harder, did poorly on just one test, etc. If I'm ever an ad-com I'd have more respect for the kid with a B from the harder university than the easier university with an A. But then again, I took calculus-based physics when I had the choice to take algebra-based but I wanted to stand out and took the calculus-based. No adcoms ever asked or pointed out that I took the harder physics but they never asked me why I got a B in both either.
