At my school, honors biochem students must take a 15-credit honors research course. I'm unsure if med schools consider a semester spent taking such a course to be full courseload. My confusion arises from the fact that full courseloads typically involve 5 courses, but in this case, it's only 1 course which by itself is worth 15 credits.

Your full-time status is determined based on your credit load, not the number of classes you take. So for the purpose of your application, this semester should be looked at the same as all of your others. If you want to really make it clear what that class was about, you might mention it in your personal statement. I have a feeling that a 15 credit research class will be something significant enough that you'll want to include it.

Thanks for your post. Could someone (preferrably Lizzy) please reaffirm this, because I just want to make sure.

Go look in the one-hundred page or so AMCAS guide book for clarification. So far as I know, full-time status is determined by the amount of semester hours, not the number of classes.

I did this when I was in undergrad. no one asked me about it during the interview, so I doubt that they cared...

A person taking 11 1 credit physical education classes would be considered part-time. A person taking a 15 unit class is considered full time. The number of credits is suppose to represent the workload. So, yes you would be taking a full load.

So many stupid questions.
Your post contributes a lot to the thread.
But seriously, STOP BEING A RUDE *****HOLE! 👎 If you have nothing relevant or helpful to say, don't post it.
This is not a stupid question. I simply did not look in the AMCAS guide book and that's why I didn't know, for eff's sake!
