Hey guys so I have took orgo I first semester of soph year and did pretty well. The way my schedule is working out it seems like I will take orgo II fall of junior year. Is that a good idea? I plan to review orgo I over the summer again... so should I be alright taking orgo II a year after orgo I or is this not a good idea?

you'll be fine even with a years time difference. just remember electrophiles, nucleophiles, and arrow pushing / the basic moves like a nucleophile attacking an electrophile. the mechanisms in orgo II are different from orgo I so you don't need to remember the mechanisms from orgo I. i took orgo 2 5 years after orgo I and had no problem. i also liked orgo 2 a lot better.

I took O-Chem II a year after O-Chem I, and I did really well in both classes. I agree with the last poster - remember electrophiles, nucleophiles and arrow pushing, and you'll be just fine. I think that we ended up referencing a couple first semester mechanisms, but it wasn't anything too crazy.

this... the class is fairly easy as long as you remember the basic

In my school, nobody had any idea what the hell was happening in orgo 1 by the end, so the need for cumulative knowledge was minimal, as long as you had the basic idea of how to push electrons. You might ask other students how cumulative orgo 2 is at your school; that could tell you how hard to review orgo 1.
Personally, I think you'll be fine either way.
