I am so pumped! Even though I'm only a freshman in college and haven't taken any science courses yet, I'm thrilled at the idea of taking a practice DAT because I knew I wanted to get into dentistry since 1st grade.

I don't expect to stand much of a chance in the biology or chemistry sections but I am eager to see where I am.

Is there anyone who would like to share their first practice DAT experience?

I never took a practice DAT at my school... but the first one I took was a free one offered by Kaplan. Honestly I don't even remember how I did on it, but the biology, gen chem, and o chem were good representations of the real exam. Reading was too hard, PAT was too easy, QR is awful no matter what way you look at it. Keep some good grades and come back here for advice about a year before you take the DAT and you should be well prepared. Good luck!

I do remember taking a practice MCAT at my school before I was pre-dent though. Didn't study at all and only got a 19 on it haha.

It's great to know what you want to do early. I only found out in the past few months that I really wanted to do dentistry.
You have a big advantage in that you can plan out your future. You will have a great chance at making it into the school of your choice if you keep up the good work.

As for practice exams, they tend to have an effect on my confidence, but they really shouldn't. Those numbers mean almost nothing.
Better than doing practice exams would be to really get a good grasp on the science courses you take in college. It'll do wonders for you in the future. Good luck!

Thanks Soleus! Congratulations on your awesome DAT score.
I am excited to see what I will score after I take all of my necessary science courses.
I've got a long road ahead of me.
