Hi, I live in FL and there is a State College near me that was previously a CC. It was recently accredited as a 4 yr and has a few 4 yr programs such as biomed etc.
I was wondering how this would look if I went there for my pre- med pre-req?
I already have a Bachelors degree but need to do a diy post bacc. There is the Univ of Fl near me as well but it is very expensive and I really can't afford to do all my courses there but might be able to squeeze in a few there later on if it would really make a difference. I plan to apply to in-state schools probably for both MD and DO (haven't really decided yet). I am wondering if there would be prejudice against the newly accredited State College by the big University med schools in this state since they all know it was previously a CC and doesn't have a ton of 4 yr programs yet. I appreciate your input! Thanks!

Okaloosa-Walton CC (don't know what it's called now)? That's the only one I know of... (Not to pry)

Anyways, the general consensus, is if you do well there, and it IS accredited, rock the MCAT, and it should work out. From what I understand, Undergrad school doesn't matter a whole lot, if you can demonstrate that you know the material well on the MCAT.

Thanks for your reply. Florida State College is the one I was referring to. I didn't know about the other one. I am kinda new to FL so haven't really gotten to know all the schools yet lol.

I was thinking Palm Beach State College formerly known as Palm Beach Community College.

Anyways, I have to agree. If the State College is accredited as a 4 year college, or University now, then they will count.

Good Luck
