Has anyone taken Step 1 immediately after the end of second year? Without taking the 4-6 weeks to study that is generally recommended. Just wondering if it's possible to do well with only studying during the school year. Asking because I want that 4-6 weeks of summer!

Is 4-6 weeks of summer worth the rest of your life?

I'm sure someone has managed to do it, but in most cases, you are going to get a horrible score if you don't put in many weeks of serious study time. You only get one shot at this, and it will have pretty significant bearing on your future. If summer is so important to you, you are better off doing a research year, taking a month off, and take the test at your leisure.

I wasn't kidding. I'm pretty sure you're wrong, sir.

🙄

The humor was about the spelling, not your intent. Unless you are spelling it "fonetikally", it's touche. Google "too-shay" and see what you get.

of course 4-6 weeks is worth it, just wondering if it's been done. and i don't mean with no studying, but studying over the weekends during the year and taking only 2 weeks or so at the end.

I took the test 3 weeks after finals and did very well. I wouldn't really recommend taking *no* time after, though. During the semester you need to be focusing on your classes, which of course will help you do well on the boards too. I wouldn't recommend doing a lot of specifically boards-directed studying while classes are going on. In my case, a full 6 weeks after classes would have been overkill, but it all depends on how much you remember from the first 2 years and how efficiently you can put it all together during your dedicated boards review time.

I did that. It worked very well for me.

At my school the average is about 3 weeks, and we do great, so don't feel obligated to put in 4-6. I think if you do what feels right you'll figure out how much time you need.

Oh my god, please drop it... I know how to spell, I was just being funny and sarcastic hence the 🙄 (btw, love the "To Shea" version).

Quit bustin my balls busta..... Oh, I'm sorry. I should have spelled it correctly, Buster.
