Taking step II CK over?

I've done mediocre on Step I, and totally low on Step II. Too low for me to mention among the hard core future surgeons of SDN. Would taking it over help me to match in at least a middle-of-the run surgery program? How hard is it to match general surgery this year?

Did you pass Step 2 CK? If so, you don't have an option to retake it - you only get that opportunity if you failed it.
