It's probably going to be a basic class like Physics 102, but the state school is 1/5 cheaper.

They both have affiliated med schools. The state school is a target school but the Ivy is way out of league. Is the Ivy worth it?

What should I do?

state school, is this even a question dude?

OP is probably confused by the recent barrage of "undergrad prestige" threads. One class taken at an Ivy or a state school isn't going to change your app that much as long as you do fine in the class. It's not like adcoms are going to get their panties wet seeing that you got an A in one class at an Ivy or get turned off that you took one class at a state school. It's your home institution that will either give you a slight bump or no bump at all.

Another reason to pick the state school is that not only is it 1/5 cheaper, but assuming it has a similar curve as the Ivy you're probably going to get a better grade at the state school since the competition won't be as stiff.

Um...unless your parents/guardians are uber-rich, and really even they are, you're better off going to state school. Like someone already said, is this really a question? 😕

Who is teaching the class is the most important thing to consider.

hostility, I sense. Out of proportion you have blown things.
SUP YODA!

OP, it wasn't mean to be an attack-these are just one of those questions that have been asked a lot...state school vs ivy, blah blah blah.

To give more detail, ultimately its not going to matter where you take the classes. I've had a friend who got accepted to JHU, among others and took his prereqs at a local community college. and that's "lower" than a state school...😀

That being said, someone did mention who is teaching the class...which could matter..but is this a class you want an LOR from? Cost may matter too, but again state school is cheaper. If there isn't anything special, I'd choose the state school.
