Would it look bad if I took certain required premed classes at a community college? I'm thinking of taking English and Calculus II during the summer at my local CC.

I've already taken Calculus I at my university and I got English Composition credit during high school, but I still need another semester of English.

Not ideal but not the end of the world either. As long as you got As in the similar courses at your school and as long as you get As at the CC, you should be fine.

Is the search button not working?

Would strongly suggest the OP watch this enlightening video:

Alright, I actually searched this but couldn't find anything. I currently go to UT Austin and I'm planning to take government and history this summer. I'm trying to decide between a community college or one of the UT branches.

Going to the UT branch should give me an edge (or will it?) over a community college, but it will cost more. Since these classes aren't premed requirements, would it even matter? I don't know how it would look to med schools with a bunch of CC classes on my transcript.

What do you guys think would be the better route?

Honestly I'm taking pretty much all of the premed reqs at my community college simply because I think it is better education than a csu school and it is ridiculously cheaper. Medical schools are not going to care about one or two semesters. It is all the same stuff. I have watched several lectures online from MIT in the general chemistry class and they literally cover all of the same things as we do. The teacher is just a little more "qualified". So people stop worrying about stupid cc classes. You will be fine. Save some money.

I plan on taking physics I and II both during summer at my community college because I hate physics the most and it will kill my gpa if I took at my uni.
