Hello everyone. I have this guy in my class who claims that he just took the DAT as if he was his brother. That way, he does not have anything in his record and brother is safe too because he is majoring in business or something similar. Is that possible or was he just putting up a show?

My recollection is that they fingerprint you and take your picture at the test center. So he might be able to pull this off if he and his brother look similar or are twins. But why do this. If you do well you get to take it again. If you don’t do well you also get to take it again. And if ADEA is on the ball they might catch you from the fingerprints (unless identical twins). The potential advantage is being able to take it without waiting 3 mos. and there by knowing some or all of the questions. But I don’t think this guy is the fist one to think of this strategy. I’m personally going to have faith in the statisticians at ADEA find this anomaly. I imagine that if caught this person’s dental career is over.

It sounds pretty smart, and if they are twins, there is no way they will be able to tell. But that is true for any test. Having a twin has advantages, you can even sleep with each other's girl friends. too bad I dont have a twin  j/k. , ok Im done having fun with this topic.

Wow...fingerprints and picture? He should have a twin bro then. Said he scored a 16AA and now is sure to get a 20 from seeing the test. Way too risky to mess with it! Ill just read for a while like everyone else. By the way, this forum is great! 🙂

i am a twin, haha! wow, cheating on a big exam like the DAT (well, the OAT for me since i am going into optometry) is crazy! i can't even think about that. the risk. oh man... 🙄

Yes, they fingerprint and take a picture of every candidate.
It was pretty dumb of him to do such a thing because his career as a dentist might be over before it even started.

The guilt! Cheating on the DAT, not for me. My integrity is worth more than a good DAT score.

I wonder if some cheaters, found out they were caught after they spent tonnes of money and time on interviews. What an interview that'd be!

Twins don't have the same fingerprints. He's either a liar or he is screwed.

Edit: Maybe not... Who is going to check his damn fingerprints anyway? If there is no reason to be suspicious about this guy, then I doubt they'd be comparing fingerprints.

Prometric does take your fingerprints and your photograph. There's a chance that he won't get caught, but if he is, yes, his dental career will be over. Personally, I think that was a brain-dead move on his part. If he wants to know what the DAT is like then simply take a couple of practice exams on TopScore. The risks, no matter how small, outweigh any possible benefit. Then again if he is willing to cut such 'small' corners then who knows what other ones he'll deem trivial in the future when he is a student and then later a liable professional.

It'll be pretty funny when he takes the test again and scores a 15  Maybe he should take it 20 more times as his brother to get to see more tests...

Do they really do this? When I took the DAT two years ago, they didn't have any of these precautions. This must be a new implementation.

I will let you guys know if i find out anything else from this kid in class. Not worth it, but possible. Do not try in real life!! 🙂 🙂

Yea I thought fingerprints werent genetic...I thought they were formed by the flow of the amniotic fluid or something like that.

Okay, even if they were identical twins the chances of them having identical fingerprints are very very small. They'd probably be similar, but they'd be different. Remember how phenotype = genetics + environment?

I'll agree with some of the previous posters. There are some moves in life that just aren't worth it. Even though the payout may be huge (although in this case the payout is nothing), the consequences of getting caught are just too large.

Nothing like taking a chance at trashing your professional career before it even starts.

My manager at work admitted that her twin sister took the SAT for her because she was weak in the English part. Some people are crazy enough to do it. 😳
