I am currently enrolled in Organic Chemistry 2. I am doing Ari's (from DAT Bootcamp) 10 week study guide for the DAT and taking it in March. I will not be done with OChem in school, but I am hoping I learn everything I need to from Chad's Videos and the practice exams.

Anyone else done this before or is it too dangerous? I just really want to focus on the DAT and get it over with before I have to start worrying about finals week.

Never did it, but if you feel like you have a good grasp of the DAT Destroyer OChem materials, bootcamp, and chads videos, I don't see there being a problem

You should be fine. The orgo on the DAT is much more simple than anything you'd learn in lecture.

I have been asked this question many times. I always advise students to finish Orgo 1 and 2, but if a student has a very strong foundation in Orgo 1 and can self teach Orgo 2 you should be ok. Remember, there are many many different versions of the DAT and a students experience in the Orgo section may not be your experience. It is fact some DAT tests are harder than others. Prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

Good luck in your studies and on the DAT

Nancy

I think it can be done if you did very well in orgo 1. With that foundation, you can probably teach yourself orgo 2. If you have the option though, I would really try to take all your orgo before taking the DAT. You can take practice tests a few weeks before your exam to make sure you're really prepared. If you're not, maybe you can reschedule to take it between semesters.

Great response and I agree!
