DAT test day is end of december, which I thought would give me plenty of time to study over the semester, but I am realizing that it is significantly harder than I anticipated and I don't expect to even cover all the material before the test. Should I even bother taking the test or reschedule so I am better prepared?

Deciding when to take the DAT exam is a common concern for students, and it's commendable that you are approaching this decision carefully. The DAT is a challenging test, so being fully prepared will boost your confidence and help you avoid the need for retakes. Continue to study diligently, and remember that you can always reschedule if you feel unprepared as the test day nears. Since you have time until the end of December, consider prioritizing your preparation.

I hope this reassures you.
