Hi all,

I work full time and am taking courses at Berkeley Extension in the evening.

I decided to take 2 courses to see how I perform with the work load on top of working 9-5. Since the labs are separate from the lecture (an additional 3-4 hours on a separate day), I decided I really don't think I could handle both courses, lecture+lab, as this would amount to 12-14 hour days, 4 days a week. I've held that kind of schedule before, but considering other things happening in my life, it's just not practical.

My solution was to take the lecture courses of Org1 and Phys2, and plan to take the labs in the near future (Summer, for example).

The disadvantage this presents is apparent. However, the advantage would lie in the fact that I would continue to practice and review the concepts I learn in the lecture section again over a longer period of time, helping to commit the knowledge to long-term memory.

Have people done this before? Is it completely asenine and not recommended to do?

Thanks for your input, yall.

Hi Kentobari,

That's a very good question to ask and as with most things, it depends. It's probably not recommended for full time students for reasons you mentioned. But if you feel taking on the labs is too much then by all means do them later. That would be the smarter and safer choice. And if you're taking it in the summer right after then it's really not a big deal provided you studied well for the lecture course. Just brush up a bit on your notes and you should be fine.

Btw, I'd agree with your choice. When I was working full time and doing volunteering, I did just one course+lab also physics.
