Hey guys I need your advice about when to take the MCAT. I will be taking Biochemistry this summer and once that is done, I will have taken all the necessary pre-requisites to get ready for the MCAT. I have gotten A's in all the pre-requisites as well so I know that I know the material well. From June-July I will be taking biochem and for the month of may I am practically free including the month of August so for those free months I can extensively do content review and practice tests. I was thinking about taking the MCAT on that September because biochem would still be fresh in my memory. But I also have option 2. I can wait til Spring of next year because my course load for Fall and Spring will be pretty basic (taking 5 credit research courses to fulfill my major requirements and some social science courses as well. These courses have little homework and little effort needed) and dedicate 8 months to practicing for the MCAT. My only fear is that all that practice can be counter productive because its very hard to retain 8 months of practice. And my final option is to take the MCAT January of next year and dedicate roughly 6 months of practice. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I did physics 2 and biochem while doing content review. It worked well for me. Of course you could take biochem in summer, do content review and take in January.

If you don't mind me asking, how long did you do review and how many hours a day did you study. What was your MCAT score?

I got a 516 (95%). I studied all of January, then about 4-10 hours a week all semester, then took sample tests the first two weeks in May.

Wow that's amazing! Thank you for the information.
