Should I go ahead and take two science courses a semester? Would that be really difficult or is it possible and do-able.

Are there many people who do that?

My last year as an undergrad will have 4-5 300/400-level biology class electives. Taking two science classes should be a piece of cake, especially if one of them is organic.

Better start getting used to it lol. I'm taking 6 right now, I graduate in December (Biology Major). Taking Biochemistry, Genetics, Behavioral Endocrinology, Readings in Biology and 2 labs.

Agree. Once in med school, you will be taking nothing but science classes for the first two years and they will each feel like a whole lot more than a few college classes.

Very few people (maybe none) on this path manage to take only one science course a semester -- the prereqs alone would otherwise take 4 years (assuming you are not separating out labs) and some schools want biochem on top of that.

Yea seriously, get used to it...it may feel and look like a lot, but its gotta b done one way or another

Not that this is a contest, but you're crazier than I am. This semester I have 5: Biochem, Cell Bio, Organic Lab, Physics 2 (with lab), and Bio Research credit.

I agree with the posters above. If you can't handle 2 science classes at once, you probably won't manage too well in med school, assuming you get there. Most people I'm in classes with this year are taking at least 3 sciences if they're a full time student. Part-time students are taking about 2. I'm taking two science courses (Organic I and Cell Bio) and 2 labs (Physics II and Organic I), each of which is a separate class. Next semester, I'll be taking at least 3 science classes and one lab.

Difficult? At times, yes. Possible? By all means, yes. Necessary? Yes, very much so, yes.

I'm sure you'll survive.

Yes. They're called science majors. Silly wabbit, humanities are for kids.

Dude, if you can't manage just two sciences classes together, you're in for a big surprise when you apply for med school/ or if you even get into med school.

One of my advisors told me that being able to handle 3 science classes is a good indication that you can handle med school. On a side note, I don't think you can really count labs as one of your "science" classes. Yes, they require work, but it's not like a full class.

Ha - I can't remember a semester without at least two sci-classes.

Indeed - labs require *more* work than most science classes.

I think my senior year, I was taking something like 5 science classes, mostly chemistry/biochem, including a 6 hour lab which doesn't include all the hours spent coming back to the lab to get the data and writing up the reports. It's really doable, and you should be able to do it if you want to go to med school.

My physical chemistry lab took me about 15 hours a week, which is more than I spend on most 4-credit science classes.

Last spring I took physical chem II, p-chem lab II, organic II, biophysics, instrumental analysis, virology, and an independent study in partial differential equations. This semester I decided to take it light (since I'm filling out apps, etc), so I only have 4 classes + research: abstract algebra, biochem, advanced protein tech, and inorganic chem. You can take two classes and live through it no problem. It should be a walk in the park.

I took 18 hrs of science classes in undergrad one semester. Two is nothing.

Right now, in one quarter of medical school i have 23.5 credit hours. Better get used to it.

And depends on what the rest of your academic load is.

i was like you once. i thought it would be hard to combine two science classes but here i am, taking immunology and orgo1+lab. eventually ill up it to 3 science, then 4, and so forth. so i say... build up. youll get use to it.

totally doable......it's all about time management and study habits, 2 science courses in a semester is not much at all...........
