Hey guys,

I'm graduating in June and also most likely reapplying since I wasn't able to get in this cycle. Most of the schools I spoke to mentioned taking more courses to boost my GPA, and I think that is the path I will most likely go down in addition to volunteering on the side. It seems that some schools don't mind CC while others prefer a university so I have 2 main questions:
1. If I decide to take classes at a 4 year university (say UC Davis, since I'm in Cali), what is the process for doing this? I have no idea how to go about this, but for CC I would just go through their website I believe?
2. Is it okay to take these classes while I'm in the cycle? I'd prefer not to wait til 2015 if possible because I have a decent DAT score and I don't want to have to retake it...

Thanks!

Just go to the admissions office, theyll walk you through it. Tell them you want a 2nd degree, saying that usually helps things move along (and once youre in you dont actually have to get another degree unless you want to).

As for your second question, its okay. You could do an academic update and itll help you if you dont get ant good news on the first monday of december.

Wait. lol the above poster is not really explaining things. Say you go to UC Davis. You tell them you want to register as a NON Degree seeking student. They will allow you to register for classes as a Non degree student (I did this as a university to take A and P when I was planning to apply to PA school or med school). The university might limit the amount of courses you can take as a non degree (some say you can only take 14 credit hours or 12 or 16). Once that occurs, then I would do the rest at a community college. Dental school rags on CC but I guess they don't care that it costs way less and the class sizes are smaller. Do your thing and apply this cycle. Hope this helps.

Try to take biochem anatomy microbiology at a 4 year and everything else can be done at a cc

The 3 classes above have become more of a requirement than just recommended

Thanks for the advice! I'm currently at UCLA and am thinking of taking courses at Davis since my girlfriend is there, so I would just talk to the admissions people at Davis right? As for the required courses, the only one I don't have is micro, so for just any other upper division science courses I can take them at a CC? (looking like micro @ Davis, maybe 1 or 2 other science at a nearby CC, and volunteering?)

Sounds good I would definitely try to enroll in summer session 1 and 2 at ucdavis as their price per unit is cheaper during the summer than during the school year hopefully they have micro bio for u

If ure at ucla right now than the summer session application should be opening up and you can fill that out and tell them which uc you want to take summer courses

You will get an enrollment time to sign up same like ucla but for ucdavis and all should be fine for the summer sessions
