Ecclesiastes. It's not going to help much with your career as the premise is that everything under the sun is meaningless. So instead of focusing on your career (or wisdom or fun or whatever that is transient), it is better to focus on fearing and obeying God.
Short book, but profound. I think about it a lot because in many ways I'm experiencing what the writer experienced.
I don't know that's a fair summary, a major theme is 'take joy in your work and toil doing something you care about because everything else is vanity and doesn't really matter'.
The '...also fear God!' bits are very clearly later awkward additions by subsequent authors uncomfortable with the message.
'There is nothing better for a person to do but eat, drink and find their satisfaction in their own toil' seems pretty clear the many times it is explicitly repeated, but sureWe're total opposites. We read the same things and come up with different conclusions. I still think I'm right though, from the very first post to now. 😉

Bible Gateway passage: Ecclesiastes 2:17-26 - New International Version
Toil Is Meaningless - So I hated life, because the work that is done under the sun was grievous to me. All of it is meaningless, a chasing after the wind. I hated all the things I had toiled for under the sun, because I must leave them to the one who comes after me. And who knows whether that...www.biblegateway.com
I linked the paragraph where your quote came from. People can read that and determine for themselves.
By the way, any update on your private practice?

Yes, actually. Three days a week are totally full now and i officially stopped taking new patients a month ago (i make some exceptions for folks in the biz - residents, physicians, therapists etc). Perhaps 28 clinical encounters in the last week (i had some other obligations so a light week) came out to ~$4500 net for me. A more typical week i aim for more like 35 encounters over those three days. Plus an IME that better me $2500 made and income from other gigs made it a very good week. One of those gigs I plan to drop in August and I may just not work more than 4 days a week going forward.
How did you get your name out there to do IMEs? I've started doing these, but only have done a couple so far.

What kind of IMEs do you do for $2500? You could be undercharging (perhaps going through a middle man?) Feel free to PM me.It or a close paraphrase occurs in at least 10-12 other places in that book. I don't know how it could be a clearer theme.
