So, it happens again...more recently, I've felt the pangs of considering the Navy blue. The difference is that I'm not shackled to USUHS or HPSP, so I was wondering if it is possible to get a signed in ink, black-letter 2 year sea billet and out. I'm EM trained and board-eligible right now. But, then, I come to my senses and realize that "the needs of the Navy" would keep me in ad infinitum. It's unfortunate, because I really wouldn't mind being a "staff puke" for a few years.

I didn't mean to exclude the IRR - which means active duty for 8 years (during this day and age). And then, maybe, even more time!

Yes, don't forget stop loss.

do what's best for you and your family....then again, I think the writing on the wall is crystal clear from both current and forger military MDs/DOs...unless you have an overwhelming desire to serve...DON'T DO IT...if you're on the fence...DON'T DO IT...believe me, you will thank each and every one of us

Listen to them. They know what they are talking about. Unless you are willing to give complete control of your life to someone you don't know, forget the military.

I hate to invoke Monty Python and the Holy Grail in answer to such a serious question, but I sincerely believe King Arthur (played masterfully by Graham Chapman) said it best in his immortalized confrontation with a certain rabbit:

"Run away!"

The answer is quite simply NO. There is a 3 year minimum service obligation with any military contract. While I would love to have you join my ranks. If 2 years is it, can't accomodate.

As the time of year demands: Go Navy, Beat Army!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
