Talking to the dean of admissions

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Ask them about the school, anything you can't find out about or they don't go into detail on their website.

"How are reapplicants viewed?" "How about those who were interviewed?"

If you interviewed at this school this cycle, initiate a conversation about how you were impressed with the school and mention a few particular things that really stood out to you about the school and that you genuinely believe that you'd be a good fit there. Be modest and genuine when you ask something along the lines of - "I understand that I was rejected, but I'd like to learn why I was rejected post-interview."

The admissions person may ask you what you're doing to improve your application. You can consider taking a few upper division bio classes this summer or say you're continuing to shadow. Basically you don't want to seem like you're just waiting around for the next cycle to roll in and reapply as the same applicant again. Show that you've matured through this cycle.

I'm a second time applicant. Besides the typical how can I improve my chances this coming cycle, what other questions should I be asking?

"what services are there for students whom maybe need additional help?"

"What time do students generally take their part 1 boards? Is it before DS2? half way through DS2? x-mas break? etc etc"

"does the school offer free plastic teeth for additional practice (simlab projects etc) or do students purchase extra teeth"........... This is usually never asked and its a real pain in the ass, plastic teeth usually cost $2 per, and if you need alot of extra practice, you will be spending $6-10 dollars everytime a major competency comes about. I wish my school offered free plastic teeth.
