I lived in DFW my whole life and was just wondering between the two schools. Wanted to know how important a support system is too.

 TAMCOD
Pros:
Live near home (I will not be living with parents if I go here)

Cons:
Not sure about how good/bad curriculum changes are
1st year is very rough from what I heard

 UTSD
Pros:
Very friendly staff and students (willing to help and the "family" bond)
Good work life balance

Cons:
Not too close to home
Do not plan to practice in houston after school

is there a total cost of attendance difference?
if your friends/family are in dallas, and you are more likely to practice there in the future, you should choose tamcod...

To me, it's just Texas. 😉

Whichever one puts you in a better position with debt.

I doubt you will have trouble getting a job near the DFW Metroplex if you live in Houston for a while. First year is always tough to other first year students. Don't plan to live the same life in dental school when it comes to relationships with family... I wouldn't live at home, but I get that COA is high. Just make sure they understand you need to practice in sim lab. But make sure if you live close to home you set aside time for family occasionally. Even if it is a FaceTime chat if you want your work/life balance.
