I guess I'm an outlier, but people that are "pale" are not unattractive by any means. That original pic with the girl who tanned...she definitely looked hot when she wasn't. Pale...with freckles 😍

I 100% agree with you. However your examples made me giggle because I am a.) of western european descent ( my mom and brother are natural blonds b.) live in MN when I am not at school also in the North.

However, I am far lighter here then when I lived in Texas. (years of lack of exposure to real sunlight has caused my natural skin tone to be lighter it is just still darker then most peoples of my descent) so I get your point.

I wouldn't choose to let an AdCom, a patient, or a peer know too much about my personal habits. Something like a tan, while not the worst thing in the world, is right out there for everyone to see.

The problem with your joke is that you're coming across as such a tool that I couldn't even tell you were joking. So you're either trolling hardcore (in which case, well played) or you're genuinely stupid.
 
Getting a tan is a great idea but make sure you don't look too dark since Adcomms really don't like that. They like people with a pale complexion and a false sense of superiority. 😉

Haha. Don't worry, you'll be ok without a tan 😉. Lucky for me, my pasty tush got a scholarship, even... :laugh:.

I will not speak to anyone else's desire to get a tan (or not get a tan), I will simply suggest that tanning was literally the last thing on my mind re: interviews.

BTW, whether you agree with WashMe or not, people probably WILL think that you are very superficial and possibly ridiculous if you walk in to your interview with skin that is very obviously several shades more orange than God could have ever intended for a human being. 😉

do you know the specific program that prowler matched into? He could have matched into the best general surgery residency in the country and wants to do a fellowship, how do you know? Judging by your posts you sound like the ultimate tool; have fun in derm.

But in case you were actually worried about me, my program isn't malignant. Some of the attendings are pretty demanding, but that's to be expected.
