Hey everyone,

I will be taking 08/24/10 MCAT and my aim is to score 32-35
I am a NJ resident and needed some realistic advice in terms of what schools I should apply to?

Recently graudated from University with a gpa of 3.95
Preisdent of biology club
member chemistry club
tutored peers (O.Chem, Bio, Phys)
dean's list
research on yeast genetics
student research assistant (health disparities)
EMS Responder (~220 hours)
facilitator in a nonprofit org (2 years)
scholarship winner
ACS award for Achievement in Undergrad O.Chemistry
physician shadowing (~6 months)

This is my second attempt. Didn't do well in my first attempt at all due to family problems. I am trying to be realistic about my scores and that why I thought of a range of 31-35!

Your goal seems reasonable and attainable. Don't listen to the naysayers.

You are def. a competitive candidant. If you are going to apply to ~ 15 schools, I'd say pick 5 of the top ten schools, plus 5 of those top 11-30 schools, and then all your state schools!

First get a score you can live with, and then decide where to apply.

I am planning to appply to atleast 20 schools. Will def. add my 2 state schools.

First get a score you can live with, and then decide where to apply.

I am aiming high because I know am competent enough to get that score. My first bad attempt was due to family problems, and I sure won't let that become an obstacle in my way to medical school.

Not yet, but I'm sure they'll coming out with NP schools any day now.
