dear all,
I have a quick question regarding to paying for the expensive international dentist program.

I am non- Us resident/ citizen, on H4 visa status
my husband is working here

If I pay for my school with saving from a foreign source( not my own, possibly family member's, but cash, not a loan ), would we be eligible for any sort of tax deduction in such case? or would we be taxed for this sum of money that goes to pay for my tuition only? Is there anything I should be careful with?

any input is very very much appreciated
just trying to save as " much " as I could
thanks😕

It is a complicated issue, but I have a feeling you won't be eligible for any tax deductions or credits. I'm not sure that you would be taxed for expenses paid by a foreigner. I don't think you would be eligible for any deductions or credits either. You should probably get some advice from a tax advisor or at least start with the financial aid office at the dental school...if they have other foreign dental students training there they have likely dealt with this situation before. Good luck.
