Hey Guys, This might be a common question asked but for people who have taken the DAT what is your opinion on taxonomy and all the stuff in Cliffs. Example: all the different kind of protists. I feel like it's not important but I don't want to be ignorant. Inputs are appreciated.

It's definitely important. I honestly didn't bother with some of the atypical stuff (slime molds for example), but definitely knew the majority. If you're using Destroyer you should encounter anything you'd need to know content wise. Also, look up Qvault's taxonomy sheet.

Is the plasmodium that causes malaria or the apicomplexans? I am confused about this.

It's important (it is likely you'll see questions from this on your DAT). However, it's not in depth enough as I had a taxonomy question on my DAT not covered in cliffs. I suggest creating your own notes from my notes so you at least exposure yourself to more in depth content and can answer more questions correctly on the DAT.

It is important to know the basics and be able to know classifications.

You will not be responsible for every single organism, but you should understand and be able to explain hierarchical systems.

Hope this helps.
