I've never taken a taxonomy class in undergrad, so looking at the taxonomy chapter in Cliff's AP bio book is totally freaking me out. Is it worth memorizing everything? How in depth is it covered on the DAT?

Check out ferralis notes (you can find them on DAT Bootcamp's website). He has awesome notes on taxonomy, and these notes were created by someone who specifically studied for the DAT. If he wrote about it, you should know it.

No need to freak out - studying for the DAT I have had to learn new things frequently, but its like learning anything else for the first time, just takes practice

You're not alone. Taxonomy felt like a new language to me but it comes up a lot in Destroyer and you become more familiar with it along the way. Of course Ferralis' Notes are great as well.
