Method two sets up the equation
sum of torque= FnormalX - 300(6-X)
But since the axis they had here was through the smaller weight.. so shouldnt it be:
sum of torque= FnormalX-(300)(6)

I tried to attach the picture it keeps saying my file is too big- if anyone who has TBR could help me out that would be great thanks!

Yes, you are correct. You can seen on the next line they have forgotten completely about the erroneous 300N * X term that they introduced.
