Good book? Anything better out there?
It's thorough, but I like it. So far I've read a good chunk of EK and TPR g-chem as well, and EK is terrible, TPR is ok. Of the 3 I would recommend TBR
I think that EK books are really for those who have strong content knowledge when beginning their MCAT prep. What it comes down to with TBR vs TPR is how much detail you want. TPR provides a lot more detail than EK but is nothing compared to TBR. I bought the TBR books and tried them but I thought it was just too detailed and difficult.
Many people on here who scored 30+ and have posted in the 30+ thread used only TPR materials (primarily the science and verbal workbooks), so if it is working for you I wouldn't recommend anything else. I also scored a 30 but had an unbalanced score with verbal significantly higher than the science sections so am retaking. The most important thing for you to do is to make sure you do lots of practice passages to get used to the MCAT style and also confirm that your content knowledge is strong. Ideally you'd complete most it the Science Workbook by test day.

It's incredibly long and contains more than you'll need IMO. However, it is thorough.
Haven't tried princeton, have tried EK. Found EK was short and sweet, but don't attempt if you don't have a solid background.
general chemistry was my weakest area going into mcat prep, and it had been about 11 years since i took it. tbr gchem had a huge role in my ps score, a 15.
good luck!
good luck!
I also have to give my full support to TBR's materials for Gen Chem prep, both content and practice-wise (and actually also for Physics and Organic).
Also several of the Equilibrium chapter passages will murder you.

Great score Sisko. That's what BR can do. BR is 100% the reason for my PS score, and I had looked at everything before settling in.
BR is so much better in general chemistry and physics than everything out there that you're at a disadvantage using anything else. The passages are the best and they teach you how to think quickly.
For me, I wanted to go in ready for anything the writers could present. I was 100% ready for my MCAT, especially the tricky passages. I wouldn't have felt the same using anything else. To each their own, but as many people with great scores have said, it's better to do it right and be thorough than to have to repeat the MCAT.

Since you brought that up.. I got a question for you. I just did the first 1/3 of passages for Equilibrium chapter. What did you think of those and how did you do on it?

85% on the 1st 1/3 passages. There was one killer, and the 2nd 1/3 had one as well.
what do you guys mean by first 1/3, 2/3 etc? The I II III suggested schedule in the book, or the SN2ed schedule where you do every third problem.
I'm talking every third passage.
