Some of this terpene chemistry is IMHO ridiculous. I cannot for the life of me count the number of terpene units in a complex molecule. Wondering if there are any tricks to this. I cannot seem to know which bonds are "formed" bonds by reacting two terpenes when the product is given. Was this taught in ANYONEs' biochem or orgo? I got it in neither class... Orgo is my safe place but the last few TBR passages had me scratching my head hard!

THANK YOU, I just read this chapter and was dumbfounded at the terpene part. I also didn't like how it said that E2's require bulky bases.

E2 always likes bulky bases. If it were small, you would get competing SN2 reactions. the bulkiness prevents it from attacking from the back.
and terpene counting was done in my class..

Thanks for the resource I'll check that out. I just don't like terpenes, I look at them and I think "I just don't want to deal with you"... and then I do the passage anyway because I'm almost done
