In a Bainbridge mass spectrometer, what could explain a greater radius of
curvature in the deflection region for one cation versus a second cation?

I thought the question was asking to provide an explanation why the first cation have a larger radius of deflection than the second cation. I dont know why the author choose the answer based on the fact that the answer would make the second cation have larger radius of deflection. Did I misunderstood the question. I now feel I have a problem with eng.

I read it the same way you did. It sounds like they are asking why the first cation has a larger radius of curvature than a second cation.
I think the point is that it's asking in general what can increase radius of curvature (not relative to anything except itself).

The answer would need to be larger mass, higher speed, lower charge, or weaker field.

But yes, i thought the answer was A initially because if cation 2 is lighter, then by extension cation 1 would be heavier and have a larger radius. Odd wording there.

Bro, thanks for replying. I feel much relieved that I am not the only person with Eng problem, Lol. Think we should go to some ESL classes to improve it before we get to the verbal section. Lol. Kidding. I believe they wanted to ask which provides exp to why the second one is larger in radius, and somehow messed up the wording. Bro, How do you feel about TBR. I have only used TBR for prep. I did pretty good on chem and orgo, and actually liked the way it was presented. I am doing pretty good in their Physics too, but i feel it is not training me right. I am kind of becoming more intuitive, kind of like using intuitive and guessing to solve questions. Even though it is suggested by TBR, but i am so worried what if the real one is so much different. What you think, any input would be truly appreciated

I suppose it depends on where you are in your studies. I think most people tend to use TBR but I actually preferred Princeton. The questions are not like AAMC passages but the content is all there and more condensed. (Not Examkrackers condensed)

I started with examkrackers and went through the entire thing, all the books, 1001 questions, half the 101 verbal, and the audio. It was all just superficial coverage. Plus the Examkrackers strategy is guided at getting people to 30. If you are already hitting 30 and need to move beyond, you have to hit more advanced review. Kaplan practice tests are good, and challenging imo. EK verbal was solid, possibly the best.

Other than that, lots of practice problems. I did fly through the TBR sections I was not as clear on, but I didn't read anything, just jumped from problem to problem until I missed one, figured out why I missed it, and made a flash card so that I could force it to stick.

I actually follow a study outline I found here: http://www.premedhq.com/2013/12/mcat-study-tips-from-41-scorer.html
Sounded to line up more with my style of content review.

Also if your worried that the real exam is different than what you have prepared for. Take a practice test. #3 is free, and you can take 7 more after that.
You should take all of them. I don't think I have heard anyone say you should skip an official AAMC practice test. It will probably ease your worry about the real thing. 😉
