I have heard from a med student that TCOM, Texas College of Ost. Med in Ft. Worth, has gone under. They are currently in the process of finding spaces for the current students, but I don't think they will be accepting any new students.

Can anyone verify this?

If you would do a search then you would see that the Osteopathic hospital where 3rd yrs have the option to do rotations closed. NOT the school! There have been about 7 threads on this already!!!

TCOM is not just surviving, but thriving. The closure of OMCT (not at all financially linked to TCOM) is a blessing in disguise. We will now be rotating at a number of very good hospitals in the DFW area, many of them within a few miles of the school.

Please tell your "med student" friend that they are incorrect and to please check facts before spreading misinformation.

As I recall, TCOM is one of the few schools that gets a ton in research funding. I remember a figure of about 20 millions last year. Doesn't sound like a problem to me.

TCOM is the hub of OMT research in the nation and gets millions of dollars for that project alone. We just built a multi-million dollar research facility for hundreds of other research projects. We also have one of the top DNA labs in the nation and get big federal bucks for that as well.

TCOM isn't going anywhere, and there has never been a better time to be a student here. (someone needs to pay me for this advertising..)
