Hello! Would appreciate any insight, thank you!

PLFSOM
Pros:
-Pass/Fail preclinicals
-Interested in Spanish-speaking population & bilingual education/border health

Cons:
-Far from home
-NBME/In-house exams mix
- Geographic isolation may make it harder for opportunities

TCOM
Pros:
-Pass/Fail preclinicals
-Established network of mentorship and research opportunities
-Closer to home
-Love the school location

Cons:
-Double sets of boards
-More frequent OMM/OMT exams
-Quartile/internal system
-In house exams

Its really of question of prestige vs location. At the end of the day TCOM is a DO school and DOs are great and equally as capable in medicine but that stigma is very real and just because we in the medical field don't see any different you will be interacting with people in your day to day life as a future doctor who may not feel the same. MD may be a safer bet, though EL Paso is very far, Texas Tech is a tried and trued program with great match results and you can graduate with a good alumni network. Though if staying close to home is important in the DFW area, TCOM is the way to go. Though I feel like it might be a pain to study for 2 boards, especially if you want to do a competitive specialty, then your spending a lot of time doing things like OMM that will cut away at your studying.
