When u apply to TCOM do u apply through the AAMCOAS service or do u have to fill out the seperate Texas application like for the MD schools in Texas

Texas app process.

Is the Texas process that much of a pain in the booty or is it not that bad. I would like to apply to TCOM next cycle (love the dallas/ft worth area) but if its that much of a pain i may not. Also, could u give me a brief overview of how the Texas Application system works. Thank you

Read up on it here: http://www.utsystem.edu/tmdsas/

It's not that big a pain in the butt. I submitted AACOMAS, AMCAS and TMDSAS all this year and it wasn't too bad.

There is a pretty low out of state acceptance rate, unless you have exceptional stats. TCOM average stats are pretty comparable to MD schools in the state.

FYI - the TCOM Deans frequent SDN. I promise that they have now read your profile and all previous posts including the following...

'Truthfully, go to any MD school over DO. You never know, you may not want primary care and do something like Urology after 4 years of school. MD schools give you a better chance to get a top... '

It is actually quite late in the admissions process. TCOM particpates in TMDSAS, not AACOMAS. TCOM is a part of the match system in which all TX applicants who have interviewed find out about acceptances on Feb. 1st. Because decision day is so early compared to all other DO schools, they do not interview as late. I interviewed there on Nov. 1st and was notified about two weeks prior.

are you a TX resident?

I sumbitted my stuff in the midle of June. I got a call for an interview 7/19 for 8/5. I think they will interview until early Jan.

First, im sure all ADCOM members scour these boards and read every posters posts that mention their specific school

Way to take my comments out of context a bit. Everything i said i stand firmly by and im not the minority in my opinoins.

I know for a fact that TCOM checks outs SDN on a regular basis for TCOM-related postings. It doesn't matter how I take your comments. You weren't asked to defend your opinions. The point is how would the SCHOOL take your postings. I simply thought you might want to know. That's it.

Good luck with the application process. I remember how stressful it can be. 🙂
