I will start my first year in a Counseling Psych PhD program this Fall and have the opportunity to give input as to what my assistantship assignment will be. I am wondering what other think is most beneficial- teaching, research or program assistantships?

Thanks!~

Most beneficial for what?

Depends what your career goals are, etc.

Research assistantships are great if its a productive lab, get pubs out of it, etc. However, if you want to work at a liberal arts college, getting great teaching experience might be good too.

Its a question that depends on who you are, what your goals are, what you will do with each position, what your various supervisors expect for each position, etc.
