Considering a job with Team Health. Do not know all the details yet. However, just wondering please if anyone has any insight into what it's like to work for Team Health as an Anesthesiologist?

Thanks!

I am considering as well. Any Team Health current or former employees?

honestly one of the better ones IMO in my region. though i never worked for them, but im in the north east and they have a bunch of hospitals here. Their salaries are above average compared to the large academics and other AMCs like NAPA. Also what i like about them is they generally offer 7-8 weeks of vacation around here where as everywhere else offers 4, maybe 5 weeks.. the downside is no employer retirement contribution, but the extra vacations make up for it

though they are still AMC, and im still not a fan of AMCs

What are the numbers?

I've heard "average" from AMCs can mean $250k.

Team health got kicked out of one of the hospitals in North Jersey and the hospital I believe may have taken over employing anesthesiologists, that being said the salary was pretty bad as well as the benefits. One of the other hospitals they staff the Anesthesiologists defended teaching srna's and letting CRNAs have autonomy so that was a hell no automatically.

Which hospital is that in North NJ??

That’s because Team Health is losing sites pretty rapidly in the NE. I’m not sure what their non-compete looks like, but I would be wary about taking that risk.

interesting , i didnt know that. it actually felt like they are expanding when i went to their recruiting. since they are more into EM and then entered anesthesiology. I may even have taken their job if they offered average retirement contribution rates.. instead of zero . i did notice their recruiting was a bit disorganized even compared to other AMCs.. (recruiter slower to respond, and was not proactive at all to organize things ; NAPA recruiter was on top of things)

I work at a Teamhealth site if anyone wants to PM me any questions

Every amc contract is individualize. It all depends on “friendly buyout” or “hostile takeover”

honestly team health “friendly takeover” where some partners in my old practice got paid out. Not much. 750k each. But the remaining staff pretty happy there. Income has been the same as before when private.Thought retirement structure is completely different. But the overall money is the same. So I still go back back fill
Some weekend calls for extra cash. I was actually gonna to work some more as contractor next month. But team health incentivize and giving docs who work post call $2000 extra if they have to work post call. They get first priority out. Even for holidays. They are giving docs incentive to work on vacation $225/hr min 8 hours guaranteed. Plus they keep their vacation and can shift to another week off. Their salary is $400-450k with 10-11 weeks off working 45 hours a week. It’s not a bad deal.

A Sheridan facility friendly buyout in the south. Again pretty happy guys. They work around 45 hours a week. Similar salary. 400s with 8 weeks off. Calls more q8 post call always off. One long day second call. First priority out next day.

These were “friendly buyouts” and didn’t involve a mass exodus of people.

who knows. It’s been 3 plus years with these practices.

Guess things can change 10 years down the road. But that’s life. My friend Mednax practice (they sold out 10 plus years ago) was business as usual for 8 plus years. But the last 2 years have been pretty brutal. The vesting period was 5 years but they all made $$$ with stock price quadruple when most sold out in 2012/2013. They make in the high 400s/low 500s but the work is brutal. Q 12 calls. Yes. That sounds Cush. But it’s brutal work when they work. Cause it’s 24/7 with 63 operating locations.

What cities are you referring to in your post where the post-AMC takeover remains a favorable situation?

Englewood ?

The 400s you are talking of are higher than the amount I was quoted for a job in the south

Englewood ?

Interviewed at the other one. It felt a little “weird” since they actually prefer the new people NOT taking calls. I inferred what the other poster has said. The old partners wanted the keep the call money and post call days. So they basically said, you eventually may be able to take Saturday calls.... and you will get a weekday “off” a month so you can get your s**t done.

That being said I actually did like the practice, but the fact there’s still a leveled structure did not sit well....

it is very location and practice dependent, doesn’t matter what their Brand is.

Englewood is no longer TH???? really? several people told me its a good gig when i was looking for jobs

Englewood Hospital is I think being bought by Hackensack after many years of being on their own. It’s mixed up at Hackensack with an AMC, some PP, and now I guess some employed ones too.

All over the eastern seaboard. From Florida up to New York. I have friends in many places.

The sky is falling mentality doom and gloom is true is many amc places. One Florida amc place has revolving door of docs. Yet another amc run by the same exact amc 20 miles away people are happier.

there are pockets of good places to work at.

Do ur research. That’s all I can say.

I can't pm you - it's blocked. Can you pm the two places

No Holy Name. That being said from what I hear you can make money but it's heavy call and long hours

Englewood was nice people but the whole CRNA srna love was red flags

no way! holy name? i looked into that place and it seemed like a decent gig. i wonder why. the salary they offered was definitely competitive for the region., and it seemed like most days are done by 5.. the hours didn't seem bad either. i dont think TH even took over that many yrs ago..

you know any more details?

Team Health near me starts at 225, increases up to around 400 after “partnership.” Something like 6 weeks of vacay. Good benefits. On the surface not the worst job, but they get absolutely annihilated and work > 50-60 hours per week.

I believe there is misinformation in this thread. Holy name is not team health. Holy name employs their own anesthesiologists. They are hospitals employees. I know a former coresident working there. Starts at 475, and once board certified pay goes to 500. He is usually home by 4 everyday. Honestly it’s a great gig....but those spots filled up super quickly and they are no longer hiring lol. Morristown anesthesia groups still the only true private group left in northern New Jersey and from what I hear some of the partners there still pulling in 7 figures....

I am familiar with MAG. They seem to have a prudent leader at the helm. Pick up decent hospitals and don’t over promise. The problem is that they are up against all these AMCs that can usually outbid them salary wise even if it’s a money loser and draw people away. I’m sure the leadership does well the docs on the ground are probably somewhat satisfied. But they are really swimming against the tide here.

Not true. I spoke to them a few months ago, Team health is holy name. There is no more 'partnership'. It's a new /recent change. The pay is much lower than you stated. But i guess according to above, TH got kicked out, which would have to be very recent.

Also agree w moving to private

Thats literally the opposite of my experience interviewing w them.. higher salary but bad benefits

Quite a few people who I knew worked at MAG were totally shafted and abused in their pyramid scheme, there is no glory in that group. I believe they may have renamed themselves as well to attract a new crop of suckers because of all the bad rep they bad. Don't believe for a second of any positive news about MAG.

My experience when I checked out Holy Name was that partners still ran the ship (their excuse to sell out was that it helped them organize all the documentation and quality stuff that kept piling on. Yeah okay....), didn't seem like a warm or cordial place to be. One partner said you will be here to work till 5 everyday regardless if you're done early. This may have changed since TH is out and they inflated the salary to attract people, but you will be working late to earn it.

I think TH was offering 325 with basic benefits minus health insurance and I think no pension. Not enticing...

Thread is 6 years old.

true, but every post other than 1st is new. i guess Slothtronaut didnt want to create a new thread

is 5pm late? seems standard in that area

My current job I averaged leaving around 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on a non-call day, so being handcuffed to only leaving after 5 is seeming kind of painful LOL

Team health has moved out. I can say with utmost certainty they are hospital employees. My friend got hired there literally two months ago.

wow , so they become hospital employees , and pay jumped to 5??! thats massive. i wonder why TH got kicked out. maybe TH was having trouble hiring so they got kicked? Though 4s isn't low for the region..

So fwiw looked at a job years ago when prior “iteration” of team health was in the early stages of amc “take over”. Currently TH is at that location so not sure how many different amc/corporations have taken over that practice. What I can say is when I looked at the job then was offered a position and subsequent contract. Had no idea why anyone would even consider entering into anything close to what was being offered.....fealt It was a waste of time even looking at the opportunity. From what I have read over the years it has not become any better.
