I just read the thread on the best looking pills and it reminded me of my first few weeks as a tech at CVS. I remember one of the other techs asked me to go pick up some armour thyroid (of course I had to be told where to find it). Then he told me to try to read what was written on the pill by looking in the bottle without taking out the pills. I got close and that smell hit me HARD! It literally smells like ass. And on the side the company actually has the audacity to say that the pills have a "strong, characteristic odor".
Then they tried to get me to smell benicar and even though I was a little bit scared by this point, I sniffed it. And to this day I still swear that it smells like buttered popcorn.

Any other tech initiation stories? Or interesting pill smells?

At my previous position, the pharmacy manager told me that the lead tech was a trans-sexual and had undergone gender reassignment surgery. I really didn't believe him but I didn't want to act incredulous on the off chance that it was true...

He also told the other techs that I was on parole and he had to report to my parole officer weekly...

He told us that this one girl would steal the Flagyl and to NEVER let her count it alone and always double count it...

What a clown...

everytime we had tech interns we would just grab a bottle of some meds such as metformin or cephalexin and tell them to sniff it...and they would always do it!! And sometimes when it was a slow day, then we would play guess the drug by smell. One person would have their eyes closed, while someone else grabbed a bottle of meds and we would quickly pass it under their nose and they would have to guess what med it was...yup..those were the good ol' days as a tech
