of course, any experience in medicine will only help you in the process and help you decide if becoming a doctor is really what you want to do. but if you are trying to choose a major that will look good to an admissions committee, don't bother. Just major in what you are interested in, take the pre-req's and keep a solid gpa. i have seen statistics (sorry, no link) that show that people who have degrees in med tech and nursing fields do worse on the MCAT and the humanities majors tend to do the best, probably because they are better analytical readers (with science majors in the middle).
