So, all the attendings tell me that a TEE by an anesthesiologist pays "$15". Therefore, they say, it's "useless" in PP.

I thought it was 6-8 units, depending on the exam. Even at Medicaid rates, that's higher than $15.

What's the truth?

I think is about $60 for medicare. Do you know how many TEEs you would have to do just to cover occasional repairs on the probe? The numbers they are quoting are not accurate but their message is. It's not a money maker.

so it's not by unit?

Our billing sheets show it as 6-8 units...

What you bill and what you get paid are two totally different things.
