Therefore, they say, it's "useless" in PP. I thought it was 6-8 units, depending on the exam. Even at Medicaid rates, that's higher than $15. What's the truth?

Do you know how many TEEs you would have to do just to cover occasional repairs on the probe? The numbers they are quoting are not accurate but their message is. It's not a money maker.
